Women with Breast Implants have Increased Suicide Rate

A recent study by the Annals of Plastic Surgery indicates women who undergo cosmetic breast implant surgery are three times more likely to commit suicide than other women.

Physicians who perform this surgery are urged to screen patients carefully for suicide risk before agreeing to the surgery.

Those reviewing the study believe some women who undergo breast implant surgery may have low self esteem or other psychiatric disorders, which can lead to suicide.

Interestingly, women with breast implants also show greater risk for death by alcohol or drugs.

New Drug Helps Smokers Quit the Habit

Are you a smoker who has tried just about everything to quit? Don’t worry, there is still help out there!

There is a new drug called Varenicline that is currently considered the best tool on the market to help individuals quit smoking. Taken in a pill form twice a day, this medication can be used for up to 24 weeks.

Doctors believe Varenicline keeps nicotine from attaching to the brain’s receptors that are responsible for the “good feelings” you get when smoking. Furthermore, it chemically reduces your cravings for more. There is a possibility that this medication will also work with alcoholism, although these studies are not yet complete.

Studies show that 80% of smokers want to quit, for both financial and health purposes. If you are one of them, ask your doctor about Varenicline and other prescriptions and programs that will help you to kick the habit – for good!

A New Recipe for your Grilled Hamburgers - Hawaiian Style!

This is one of those recipes you will make a face at - until you try it! The next time you grill hamburgers outside, open up a can of pineapple rings and throw them on the grill too. They don't need long - just enough to warm them and give them a smoky flavor.

Now comes the strange part. Put a few pineapple rings on your hamburger and taste the magic! If you think about it, people have been adding pineapple to ham dishes for years... so why not beef?

Our favorite? After you flip your hamburgers, put some smoked gouda or cheddar cheese on the top. When the burgers are done, make yours with a bit of mayo, pineapple and some grilled jalapeño peppers. The sweet and the hot combined with the hamburger meat makes for a fantastic burger. Try it!

Are the Squirrels and Birds Eating Your Tomatoes and Cucumbers?

Are squirrels and birds taking bites out of your tomatoes and cucumbers? Chances are, they may just be looking for water during these hot summer months.

To keep these animals from eating your garden vegetables, first cover your plants with a mesh covering found at your local garden store. But for a faster and much cheaper solution, place low sided bowels of water on the ground near your garden. This will give the animals a place to go for water other than in your garden!

How To Fix A Squirting Faucet | Change Your Faucet's Water Flow

Have you noticed the water stream from your faucet becoming less powerful? Or does the water dribble or spray to the side? This may be an easy fix if you are feeling handy.

Faucets are supplied with an aerator, which keeps the water flowing in a steady stream. The screen on the aerator will eventually trap calcium deposits and rust over time, causing the water to flow unevenly.

The fix? Carefully unscrew the aerator at the end of the faucet. To avoid scratches, place masking tape around the end before touching it with pliers. Wash off the screen to remove debris. If the screen is crusted with particles, soak overnight in vinegar. Finally, replace the screen and aerator to enjoy a more steady flow of water.

Homemade Slime - It's Slime-Tastic!

Swirly squishy slimey slime! What could be more fun to play with? The next time your children tell you they are bored, make a batch of this irresistible slime.

To make it, mix two teaspoons of the original Metamucil Fiber Supplement (may be labeled as "course milled") with a cup of water. Then place this mixture into a saucepan and heat it until it is boiling. Stir constantly for three minutes.

Now pour the slime into a heat-safe bowl and stir occasionally as it cools. Don't let the kids play with it until it is completely cooled!

Put an old table cloth on your kitchen table and let the children slime to their heart's content. But watch out, slime is addicting. You may find yourself sitting right next to them for a family fun filled slime fest!
